Room 3 Alphabetical Order
We are practicing guide words and alphabetization in second grade. Each student had to first figure out what "page" they would appear on, and then get in the correct order (some groups went right to left):
Guide Word Rags to Riches
Before second graders start using the dictionary, they need to know how to use guide words. So they've been practicing via an online game. So far, the highest score in Ms. Parenteau's class was 32,000, hit by A.P. Can you beat his score?
See how well you know your alphabet by taking this quiz.

What Am I?
The third graders are working on making inferences. What do YOU think this riddle poem is about?
Fitting In
I fit inside your door just right
wherever you reside.
But put me in your neighbor's door
and you'll still be outside.
There's just one hole that I fit in
made specially for me.
There's just one door, one safe,
one skate and one locked diary,
which makes me feel real special.
like I am one of a kind.
Of course, sometimes folks copy me
in case I'm hard to find.
I share a ring with others
of my type; I'm rarely single.
But that's okay 'cause when we
touch each other, then we jingle.
WHAT AM I?

No One Told the Aardvark - Grade 1
First graders listened to the book No One Told the Aardvark by Deborah Eaton and Susan Halter. In it, a boy imagines what it would be like to be able to do everyday things like brushing his teeth and eating his food the way a variety of animals do similar things.
Using a worksheet developed by my colleague Beth Grabbert, students shared what animal they wished they could be and why:
